A Day in the Life of a Clarion Intern
As part of our commitment to encourage more individuals from all walks of life into PR, at Clarion we run an internship programme every Summer. This is in addition to our apprenticeship programme with Creative Alliance (find out more about that here).
From students at our partner university – University of West London – to those fresh from high school, and everything in-between, our aim is to give potential PR stars of the future a glimpse into what it means to work in public relations.
All interns are paid London Living Wage and work with us for a minimum of 2 weeks, so they get the chance to really get under the skin of life as a PR. They also get stuck into actual work (no glorified tea makers here – we all make our own!) so they get a genuine experience. Here’s what some of our interns have to say:
“I had the incredible opportunity to attend a client’s ‘Christmas in July’ event, where Clarion brought together industry leaders and journalists to showcase an incredible range of products and festive insights. I was trusted to not just help with the set-up day, but be at the event, where I got to speak to the client and journalists – it was an invaluable experience. Before my internship I hadn’t thought much about PR as a potential career option, now I can’t wait to apply for roles in the industry once I finish my degree.” – James, second year student.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time interning at Clarion. It was very interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. One of my most enjoyable experiences was supporting with influencer gifting – helping to find influencers and package up parcels to send to them. It was so exciting to then see the content appear on their socials.” – Sophie, recent high school student.
“My internship taught me a whole range of skills and provided me with first-hand insight and experience on what it is like to work in a PR agency. The experience and skills that I gained increased my confidence and helped me to determine that I wanted to progress my career path in PR. It also helped me to transition more smoothly into a PR Assistant role when I was offered to return to Clarion full time once I graduated. Since then, I have progressed to Junior Account Executive – and have never really looked back!” – Grace, Junior Account Executive.
